Josip Broz Tito himself ordered the basic model. This provided Yugoslavs with a practical and affordable domestic mass-production car. A modified version of the Yugo was later exported to America. It quickly became a POP icon. It has appeared in a number of films, most notably Die Hard 3, in which it was driven by Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.
